February in Florence: a photo diary
My February trip to Florence was a rather spontaneous one — I wasn’t really planning on any international travel before the summer. However, this little weekend getaway turned out to be exactly the kind of break that I needed from the grey and gloomy winter weather of both the Netherlands and the Czech Republic.
The capital of Tuscany has everything you would expect from a great Italian city: rich history, incredible architecture, delicious food, and warm, friendly locals.
While rather modest on the inside (if you just look at the sides and not up at the incredible Last Judgement fresco, that is), Florence Cathedral — and especially its dome — is probably one of the most fascinating pieces of architecture out there.
Before you make the trip to Florence yourself, I highly recommend learning a bit about the famous Medici family and Brunelleschi’s dome. These stories will make your visit all the more fascinating.
Here are some of the highlights from my February weekend trip. ✨
